You know how you’ve heard someone say that meditation is the key to happiness? This is definitely true! And if you want to be happier and healthier, you could always start by meditating.
But if you want to really boost your happiness, there’s a better way. You could meditate on your own body.
I mean, really, no one does this better. Not even the Dalai Lama. He likes to tell us he spends his time meditating on the earth, but I’m pretty sure he meditates on the earth on the side. What he does is spend the rest of his day meditating on his own body.
A new study published in the journal of Consumer Psychology found that the more you look at your own body, the happier and more engaged you feel, all while reducing your risk of depression. It may not be a cure-all when it comes to happiness, but I think it is good enough to at least be useful. If you’re not a guy who spends his time meditating on the earth, perhaps you should start.
I think the most important thing here is the word “meditation” which is used in quite a few different ways. A lot of the popular ways to meditate involve sitting in a chair and just watching your thoughts go by, which is all fine, but it’s probably not the best way to practice. Meditation can be done in a variety of ways, some of which are more natural than others.
I have a friend who works in a nursing home, and she recently started doing meditation in her room. She makes sure to do it when her husband and son are not around. She’s been meditating for over a month now and has noticed a huge difference. She even started doing it in the middle of the night to help her sleep. It sounds crazy, but it has definitely made a difference.
It turns out that while meditation can be done in a variety of ways, the most natural way to meditate is to turn off your brain and let it flow through you. While this is very different from meditation, it can be done for a variety of reasons and can be a great way to unwind from your work and thoughts. Just make sure to do it in a well-lit room, preferably one where you have a lot of natural light.
One person who’s found that meditation actually helps her sleep better is the person who’s tried to meditate on a regular basis. She said it helps her relax and sleep better, and she’s not alone. As I’ve watched people I know get in deep meditation, I’ve noticed that there is a noticeable difference between what’s going on in their minds when they meditate and when they’re not meditating at all.
