I have a personal mantra that I use every day that talks about the most basic human emotions. It’s my own version of “The Three Levels of Self-Awareness” from the movie “The Secret.
As a matter of fact, I really think, “I am that person who knows about the greatest game in the universe”. So I use this morning mantra to remind myself to be aware and to look at the bigger picture. I also use it to remind myself that what happens on Deathloop day, happens every day. So I try to put a little more awareness on myself, and to not be so focused on what I am doing that I forget that I am alive.
This morning I meditated for ten minutes. While I couldn’t fully stop thinking about that game, at least I got out of the habit of being on autopilot.
You can tell a lot about a person by what they do when they aren’t meditating. One way to tell if you are a person with self-awareness is if you don’t have any distractions. What you do when you are meditating has a lot to do with how you focus, if you are aware, and just what you are doing. Of course, focusing on Deathloop day is the most important thing you can do.
Dr Joël D’Antonio is a psychiatrist who, I’m sure, has a lot to do with why I have a problem focusing on Deathloop. In the game, some of the Visionaries come to Blackreef to be cured of their obsession with killing people.
But after a couple weeks of practice, I’m feeling far too good. I’m just not distracted by the game at all, and that’s made me feel better. But I’m not sure I like that I’m not distracted.
The first thing I did after getting the Deathloop amnesia patch was meditate on my problem with focus. Its not that I have an actual problem with focus at work, but I just feel like I do too much of it at work and I never do enough of it at home. I know, I’m the same way. I need to go to work or I don’t have anything to do.
