The first step to deep meditation is to get into the habit of being fully present with yourself. Deep meditation is all about being fully present with the present moment.
Being fully present means being present in your present moment. You are. You are right here.
Another way to be fully present is to stop thinking about all the things that are happening around you. Think about nothing. Just be here.
As it turns out, meditation is easy. Just sit quietly and notice how you feel. This is what the Buddhists call “samatha” which means “to stand.” Another name for this is “meditation.” You may have seen the movie “The Life Aquatic.” When you watch the movie, you will notice that there are many beautiful scenes of meditation. You will also notice that these scenes are usually accompanied with a beautiful ocean scene.
The only thing that meditation can’t do is not get you in trouble. It can’t kill you, it can’t poison you, and it can’t make you forget you are alive. But it sure can help you get through the day. It can help you get through the rest of your day, the rest of your life.
Although meditation is often presented as the opposite of a pill, there is nothing wrong with meditation. It can be practiced in many different ways. It can be used to calm the mind, to improve focus, to reduce stress, to focus on a particular task, to focus on a particular idea, to focus on something pleasant, and so forth. It can also be used to distract a person from their everyday life.
The basic idea of meditation is to turn off your mind. To do that you first have to turn off your thoughts. In the real world, thoughts are things that you have. With meditation, your thoughts are thoughts that you have. If your thoughts are stilled while you are sitting in a puddle, that means you have turned off your thoughts. In that case, you don’t need to do anything else to get rid of your thoughts.
That’s true of all thoughts, but the same can’t be said for your body. If you are still in a body, for example, you have to remove thoughts from your body. You can only do this with the thought that you are still in the body. But if your thoughts are stilled, then your body is still. If your mind is stilled, your body is still.
It is very important to have no thoughts for your body. It’s much easier when we are still and calm. I think most people just need to remember we are always still and that no matter how hot or cold our bodies get, we will always be calm and still.
So, how do you go into deep meditation? A lot of people just get a good meditation practice, but that doesn’t really help you with the mind, because our mind is always in a state of activity. So the first thing you need to do is take the time to calm down and relax. It sounds simple, but it is very important.
