In a class on the art of meditation, the teacher talked about the kneeling meditation bench as being something that would help people get into a meditative state. I am a bit of a meditation junkie and have tried a lot of different meditation techniques, but the kneeling meditation bench seems to be the most effective and calming.
While kneeling meditation can be a great way to be meditative, it is usually done in a sitting position which is not the best for meditation. It’s good to be able to do it the way you would if you were in a regular chair or lounger, but there’s a lot that can go wrong if you’re just sitting there.

Most of the time youll end up feeling like youre just a part of the floor, not actually in a position that helps you relax. And second, if youre not even sitting in a regular chair, youll end up with a foot that looks like it may crack.

If you are sitting in a chair or lounger, you can put your feet up on a table or end table, or you can put your feet on a cushion or foot pad. Or you can just use your toes. My foot is just sitting in my desk chair trying to remember what I did last week.

This is why many people who have painful feet have the tendency to put their feet on something. This is also why I find feet sitting on the ground or on the floor more comfortable than just barefoot. The other thing that people often forget is that there are two sides to everything. The foot only wants to be in one place and the head wants to be somewhere else. So you really need to make sure that you are sitting in the right way for the foot and the head to be in the same spot.
