I have found that if you can focus your mind on a specific point for at least a few seconds, then you will be able to move towards that point much more easily. I do want to mention that you should not try to meditate for more than a few minutes either.

To start, let your breath become your focus. The breath is the only way that you can remember what it is that you’re doing.
