When I first stumbled across meditation tables, I was surprised they were for sale. I thought they were for use in meditation rooms, but then realized that most meditation rooms are like that, except they’re actually for sale on the internet. That led me to visit a few meditation rooms online, and to find one such meditation table. It can be found on the internet for about $300, and if you like the look, you can buy it at Amazon for around $300.
Even though I’m a big believer in positive thinking, I find myself not really doing meditation daily. I’m just not that into it myself. I guess when it comes to my own spiritual practice, I’m more of an introvert. So when I find myself sitting at my desk and staring at the same picture for hours (and it’s not even a picture of a cat), I figure it might as well be for real.
I got this idea from a book I read a while back on the subject of meditation. The book is called “The Power of Habit.” Its a book that’s full of stories of people who’ve taken up meditation programs and have found themselves stuck in very repetitive patterns. One of those people is a man named Dave Rensin. He spent the last decade of his life as a stockbroker, working every day to try to get a comfortable life.
Rensin has since worked his way into a very successful business and now lives in a very comfortable house. But after years of trying to get things that he wanted, he found himself bored. He was tired of being tired. So he figured, “If I just sit and stare at a white wall all day, I might just get bored with that.” He moved into meditation.
The idea of meditation has been around for hundreds of years. Buddhists meditate to focus on and observe their breath. I’m sure there are those who meditate to get in touch with their inner self, but I believe meditation is just a different technique for getting things done.
