My husband and I did a meditation retreat in Bali last year. It was a two-day retreat that was centered around the basics of mindfulness meditation. The retreat was led by a Buddhist monk who trained under the late Bodhi Tree. The retreat was a very relaxing and enlightening experience. The meditation retreat was an honor for me and I look forward to doing it again next year.
One of the main benefits of the retreat was the time we spent in the presence of the monk, who gave us a lot of advice on how to lead a more balanced life. One of the things he told us was, “meditation is a powerful antidote to stress and anxiety, but it’s not going to fix everything. It’s okay to be stressed and anxious for a while.
This is an important reminder. Stress and anxiety have something to do with emotion and, it seems to me, with our thoughts. Meditation is about bringing calm and clarity to your mind. It is a process that is difficult to do, because it requires the suspension of our thought processes and our ability to reason. But just as the mind is a powerful tool, so are the emotions. And the more we try to control them, the more we end up controlling our thoughts.
Meditation is a way to clear your mind, to quiet your mind, to refocus your thoughts. With practice, it becomes easier and easier to do, because the more we are aware of our thoughts, the less control we have over them. It’s like a puzzle. If you can see what you are doing, and your hands and your body are doing it, then you are only making a small contribution to the puzzle.
Meditation is a practice that is used by many different people, but it is most commonly used by people who have trouble controlling their thoughts. They may be in pain, or a loved one, or they are afraid. Meditators are able to bring their thoughts back into control. This has been proven by research. The meditation helps people to realize that their thoughts are nothing more than a series of impulses which they have to resist.
The meditation, and the practice itself, are related. Meditation is a mind control technique that can be used to help people to control their thoughts. Meditation is a practice that can help people to be more aware of what they are thinking. It can help people to notice when they are in a habit of not noticing that they are thinking, and then to interrupt that habit and try to notice what they are thinking.
The trick is to actually notice your inner silence. In your meditation practice, you might be like a turtle, taking a break from swimming underwater. Your thoughts go on for far too long, and you don’t notice them. You want to make it as possible for your mind to stop and listen to what you are thinking.

In the same way that a turtle takes a break from swimming underwater to listen to its thoughts, you might find that the same happens within. If you have a mind that goes on for too long, then you won’t be able to listen to it. If you can’t listen to your thoughts, then you probably won’t be able to stop them.
