That’s what meditation retreats are all about. In this article, I share with you why you should go on a retreat and why you should try meditation to begin to see the benefits of getting in touch with your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, and your spirit.
Meditation is a great way for people to relax, calm down, and clear their minds. In fact, a retreat can be a really good time to learn how to meditate, because it’s so easy to get distracted. You may be thinking of the latest song, the latest movie, or the perfect idea for your next project, but you won’t be thinking about your meditation practice for days.
The thing is that meditation is often used more as a tool to get people to do things than as a way to relax. But if your goal is to relax, you may want to consider it as a way to reduce stress, because even if you can learn meditation, you’ll still probably still experience stress.
So how do you relax? The answer is that you don’t have to be totally “off the grid” to find a way to relax. If you’re a busy professional you can probably go to a coffee shop, but for most people, a quiet space in their home with a few quiet things on their mind can lead to a feeling of relaxation.
A recent study found that people who spend more time meditating have a 23% reduction in the risk of death, as do those who report feeling less stressed. It’s not that people are sitting around doing nothing all day, they’re just concentrating on the things that are most important in their lives.
I personally think meditation is useful, but it’s not for everyone, it’s not always healthy, and it takes a lot of time to learn. Some people don’t have the time to meditate, so they end up doing other activities that don’t require their full attention. But if you’re a busy person and you’ve got a bunch of time in your life, a quiet space to meditate in is a great way to reduce stress and increase focus.
I went to a meditation retreat a few months ago and it was great. The whole time I was there I was able to focus on whatever I was doing. I did not have to think about my breathing, my mind, or anything in particular. At the end of the retreat I decided to meditate for longer than what I normally do. I decided to focus on my breathing for about four hours. I could have meditated for five or more hours and I would have forgotten about everything else.
That’s the nice thing about meditation. It’s not a single thought process like most of us are accustomed to in the world. Meditation is a continuous state of mind, like being in a dream. We are in our thoughts because we need them to function, but not because we are actively thinking about them. When we’re in our thoughts we usually have to think about something else or we can forget about them.
We can have our mind active for a moment and have something we need to forget, but we often forget to take a few moments to just be with the thoughts and emotions that are there.
The problem is when we have our mind active and we spend a long amount of time thinking about something, we don’t have time to do it. That’s because when we are in our thoughts we don’t spend long enough to do the things we need to do. Like going to the gym. We don’t go in our mind to do the strength exercises we need to do.
