I have been to meditation retreats in the past, but was never in the mood to do them. I wanted to find a place where I could just be immersed in the moment, where it didn’t matter what I was doing.
The idea of meditation retreats is one that seems to be gaining in popularity recently. While there are many different types of retreats, the most popular one so far has been in California. The first meditation retreat opened in 2003 and has since had over 300,000 students participate. The newest one in New York is a bit more traditional.
The New York retreat, called the Blue Mountains Retreat, begins with a guided meditation. The meditation is followed by a two-hour session of meditation and yoga. Then the students go outside to do yoga on the beach followed by a yoga session and then a yoga and meditation session. All of it culminates in a two-hour meditation retreat.
The Blue Mountains retreat is pretty similar to the other retreats in that it’s basically an open-air meditation. The meditation is led by a teacher who guides you to focus on your breath and to feel the support from the group. The meditation can go on for 45-60 minutes.
I’m not sure that many people can get to the Blue Mountains and not be a little anxious and in need of a day off. But if you are feeling a little low or need a little help, this is a perfect place to find some community and to get the support you need.
I’ve been to a few places, but the Blue Mountains is the only place I’ve experienced that has the same vibe as the other places I’ve been. You’re on a beautiful, serene hillside with no one around, and you have a beautiful, serene environment to yourself.

This is the most peaceful place I’ve ever been in.
The Blue Mountains experience is one of the most unique experiences Ive ever experienced. It’s like a vacation in the woods, except you are not on an island, and you are not on a beach. No cell phones, no computers, no televisions, no media devices in any room. Its just you and nature and you just listen to your thoughts.
Ive been to meditation retreats before, but this one is new to me. I have to say I have never been so fully immersed in my own thoughts and feelings as I am here. It is the most intense, yet peaceful experience Ive ever had. This place is like being in the back of a car, but not the back of a car. Just a car with the windows rolled down. The whole thing is just completely peaceful.
