I am not a Buddhist, but I am inspired by the Buddhist concept of “The Three Levels of Self-Awareness.” First, the level of “Not-Self.” All that we are: the physical body, emotional body, and consciousness. The level of “Self-Consciousness.” I am aware of who I am, but I am not conscious of it. The third level of awareness is “Self-Awareness.
The first level, the Not-Self, is easy to explain. You are aware of your physical body and are not aware of your own emotions, thoughts, and desires. The second level is Self-Consciousness. You are aware of your thoughts, emotions, and desires, but are not aware that they are yours. The third level is Self-Awareness. You are aware of your thoughts, emotions, and desires, but you are aware of their source.
I think I see the problem here. This is the first time I’ve heard the term “Self-Awareness” and it sounds so vague. The first level is easy enough to explain, but what about the second level? It sounds like a lot of abstract, theoretical, philosophical, philosophical mumbo-jumbo. It certainly isn’t. It’s just awareness of your feelings, thoughts, and desires. Awareness of who you are is the third level.
Awareness of yourself is what’s the third level. The second level is the third level of awareness of yourself. Awareness of the world around you is the second level. The first level is awareness of yourself. Awareness of the future is the second level. Awareness of your experience in the present is the first level. Awareness of the past is the second level. Awareness of your current experience is the first level.
I think you can all agree there has been a lot of talk about meditation lately. There is no doubt that a lot of people are meditating, and it seems to be more and more popular, especially as we get closer to the end of the year.
Meditation is usually defined as the practice of focusing thoughts on a particular topic or object. I often see people talk about “focus a thought, focus a thought on something you love,” that kind of thing. But what is it exactly? You probably know that if you’re in a meeting, you can usually focus on the speaker, their topic, or maybe on the next slide in the presentation.
You may have heard of meditation, but what is it really? It’s a type of distraction that can be a good way to de-stress and calm the mind, especially if you have a lot going on, or if you’re in a stressful situation. Many people find that when they meditate, they fall asleep, but they also feel more in control of their decisions and emotions, and they have a more calm and peaceful way of thinking.
And like most of our other tips, I’m going to go ahead and say that meditation can be a great way to de-stress and calm the mind. But before we go too far in explaining just what one can do with meditation, I wanna talk about why we’re not recommending it for everyone. We’d like to keep the discussion positive and helpful, but we don’t claim that meditation is the panacea for all our mental ills.
Meditation is a great way to practice some inner peace and control. But be careful with the word meditation, because while it is a great way to de-stress and calm the mind, there is something called the “monkey mind.” If I was to describe a monkey mind, I would describe it as a mind that is easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited, easily excited.
The biggest risk of meditation is that it can be very addictive. So if you think you are getting some inner peace and control in your meditation, you should be very careful not to become addicted. We recommend that you use a timer when doing meditation. The more you use it the shorter it should be. You can also use guided meditations to help you stay focused.
