At times, we can be so consumed by our busy lives that we forget to keep our hearts open. That’s when meditation can help us. By focusing our attention on something deep, we can find peace, quiet, and a deep place of stillness.
Meditation is a way of being. People often say, “I meditate when I’m out with my friends,” but in truth, meditation is a way of being, whether you do it in a library or at a cafe. It’s a way of quieting your mind and putting your focus on something deep. There are many different types, but the most basic is to just sit without talking and just think about something for a moment.
Meditation is something I’ve always found to be a great way of calming down. I think that it’s because it allows your mind to just be. The mind, like a muscle, is hard to control, but a controlled mind is a better way to put it.
When you sit without talking and just think about something, you can’t think about something else or put it into your body. In this way it is also said to be good for your mind, but it can also be said to be good for your body because it allows your body to get the signal that you need to relax. But because you are not thinking about anything, you are not thinking about anything, you are free of the stress of life.
The problem is that we go through life without actually getting to know if there is a thing called stress. When you think, “I have to exercise or write an email or do something,” and it takes you over five minutes to do it, that’s stress and that is stress. But if you know that you can relax and think about nothing for two minutes, that is stress.
This is also an easy one, its called protection meditation. Or meditation on nothing. Its a way to clear your mind and stop worrying. What is it? Well, it’s like when you are relaxing at the spa and you see a pretty waterfall and go, “Oh, I am going to go swimming. I am so relaxing.” You take a couple of steps forward and you are relaxed. You are not worrying about anything.
This is not a bad, bad thing. It is a natural state for us all to enter. Its like the water of a waterfall. It makes us feel really good because we are not thinking about anything. We are relaxed and we feel like we are not worrying anymore. It is like a little vacation that you take where you walk down to the waterfall and you say a prayer and you are free. You are not worried anymore. Now you are thinking about nothing.
We need to be mindful of our thoughts. In general, we tend to think about things when we’re in a busy activity. We are not really thinking about anything except the task at hand. This is why we often get distracted.
This is why when we are in a car or traveling in a car or in a plane or on a bus or train or in a boat or in the rain or in the snow or in the heat or in the cold, we tend to think about everything we are doing. We are so distracted we forget to think about nothing. And we forget to pay attention to anything. We often forget to check our phone, check our social media, and check our email.
This is why we tend to get distracted. It’s called attention, and it’s all the things we are not paying attention to. All we are doing is worrying about our thoughts and emotions and the external stimuli that distract us. We’re not actually paying attention to what’s going on in our lives anyway. We’re too busy thinking of what we might do to get attention.
