That is what I believe, anyway. I believe that when we are sleeping, we all automatically have a sense of peace and relaxation. When we are awake and aware, we can’t help but notice how much we need to focus on our health and wellbeing.

Our very own retreat teacher, a woman who calls herself Liza, has been teaching us the practice of meditation and sleep meditation for quite a while now. We have found that the combination of both has had a big impact on our energy levels and moods, and it really is a very relaxing and positive experience. In fact, I still feel this way about sleep meditation: Its calming effect has become so great that I have been trying to practice it for years without much success.
I am so convinced that I have found a way to relax and get my energy levels up that in order to get on my meditation horse I have tried to force-feed a bowl of rice to the dog and make her sleep while I play music. The result was a cat asleep while I played my music, then a second cat sleeping while I played music on a second CD. I have even tried putting ear buds in her ears and feeding her cat food.
I think that I was a bit confused about this because I’ve been doing this for years and never seen any difference. I also think that she was actually pretty tired when she went to sleep and didn’t want to wake up. Maybe I’m making this sound too complicated.
